RDA is a learning organisation committed to facilitating research. Please refer to the RDA Research Diagram.

If you wish to research any aspect of our work please contact us as soon as possible, whether or not you are clear about your research topic.

If you wish to interview individuals who ride with us it is important not to underestimate the time it takes to have your proposal considered, approved, and for the necessary permissions to be obtained. RDA Groups are independent charities. There is no common database of people who ride with us so, for instance, if you wish to locate a sample of people who ride and acquired a disability through an accident, this can take a long time. We would have to approach local Groups and they would contact potential research participants. Furthermore, RDA Groups often close over the summer months and this may also adversely affect your research timetable.

RDA is particularly interested in the following research topics:

  • improving capacity to provide riding sessions
  • improving therapeutic outcomes for riders, vaulters and carriage drivers
  • enhancing the volunteer experience; links between volunteering and health and well-being
  • improving our environment and engagement with people with specific disabilities
  • the scope of a specific therapeutic profession to contribute to RDA’s work
  • equine welfare

If your intended topic is not included in the list please contact us anyway. We will help if we can.

Try to complete the RDA Research Protocol and Proposal Form – it has been designed to help you consider the necessary aspects of any research project.
